The Vision: Incarceration, Addiction/Recovery Spaces, Hospital

In 2019, I had a life-altering experience—spending time on the streets walking alongside a loved one attempting to find help for his addiction. In that short time of staying by his side, my eyes were opened to the great sufferings and great joys that come by way of an unsheltered life. In the darkest moments with my loved one, I saw clearly his desire to be understood and not alone shine like a star. That desire was not just inside him but in every person I encountered. Those lights continue shining inside all those impacted by the drug epidemic exploding on America’s streets and those experiencing the resulting crime, poverty and homelessness. In 2022, when I gave my TEDx talk, I hadn’t found the best course of collective engaged action, now I have. Won’t you join me in finding a way through this emergency by supporting Community Care Companions (CCC)? This crisis will take a community to answer the question, what is mine to do?
