Frequently Asked Questions

What is your approach to healing?

My entire approach is based on the body’s innate ability to self-correct and heal. Inside all living things is a biological force ever striving for well-being and balance. Some may call this orderly force, “Nature’s Intelligence,” “God,” or any number of names. I call it energy: ever-moving, knowing no boundaries, indestructible yet transformative—an inexhaustible source. Our bodies are constantly interacting with this energy and are the means for alerting us when balance has been upset. Symptoms ranging from pain to a variety of emotions are red flags which attempt to get our attention so health can be restored. Our bodies are natural barometers, constantly alerting and reminding us—we are powerful vehicles of creation and change.

Why hypnosis and meridian tapping?

When physical or emotional trauma of any sort is experienced, the body usually chooses one of three responses: fight, flight or freeze. Most people are familiar with fight and flight but give little attention to the freeze response—our body’s miraculous way of freezing pain until we can process it later when it’s safe to do so. Think of all the times you experienced an emotional or physical jolt; was it appropriate or even possible to fight the source of your discomfort or run from it? Our bodies often hold the distress until it can be dealt with. Fight, flight or freeze are the conventional reactions to trauma; Inner Constellation utilizes a fourth response—flow. Emotions, including pain, are meant to pass through the body, not remain stuck. Your subconscious mind has experienced every thought, feeling, emotion, physical sensation and memory in your existence. It is that repository which hypnosis and meridian tapping accesses and with Mindful Meridian Tapping (MMT), loosens the areas in the body where pain may be frozen, waiting for appropriate release. Hypnosis accesses your deep, inner resource, which provides personalized insight and is a storehouse of solutions beyond what any outside source can provide to you. Unfortunately, in western culture we’re rarely taught to honor the inner part of ourselves that hypnosis and meridian tapping acknowledges. In fact, we’re usually encouraged to seek answers outside ourselves in the form of experts, books or substances that provide temporary relief. Meridian tapping is used on the body between sessions as a self-awareness tool to access the deep inner mind and provide further healing to the whole system.

What is meant by body-mind?

A standard of my practice is the belief that the body and mind are synergistic, meaning these two elements cannot be separated, and in fact, the body-mind’s combined effect is far greater than any individual part. A simpler way of expressing this might be to say, what is experienced by way of bodily illness influences the mind, and in turn, thoughts greatly impact physical health. Western approaches to health often separate the body-mind and rarely treat the emotional contributors to disease or trace the physical contributors back to a possible emotional disturbance. With a holistic approach, the entire body-mind is considered and treated as a whole.

Am I attracting unwanted things by stating the problem again and again in the reminder phrase while doing the meridian tapping?

This is one of the most frequently asked questions I hear. The concern seems to be that one might be ‘tapping in the negative.’ This is a common misconception that benefits from clarification. The goal of meridian tapping is to discharge distress in the body caused by trauma of any sort, physical or emotional. Our body experiences pain as an indicator that something needs to be addressed—pain of any sort is our body’s way of getting our attention. To ignore this built-in barometer is analogous to experiencing an open wound but doing nothing to stop the bleeding. Once the disturbance is acknowledged, healing will begin. So then, the idea with meridian tapping is to recognize and give voice as precisely as possible to the disturbance that’s showing up in the body and discharge this interference using the meridian system. Pain is not intended to stick around; it’s intended to get our attention and move through the body. Movement is greatly assisted with meridian tapping. Once the disruption is cleared by truly experiencing the problem and giving it full attention, then the positive choices can be incorporated. When pain or emotional triggers are cleared, your body and mind will be better able to participate in healing.

What does the “blue man” on your website represent?

He’s a modern rendition of Leonardo da Vinci’s Vitruvian Man. His original sketch was named for Marcus Vitruvian, an architect who discovered the perfect symmetry of the human frame by measuring distances between certain body parts. Interestingly, many of the areas from which Vitruvian measured were meridian tapping points. Da Vinci believed, as did Marcos Vitruvian, that the perfection of the human body mirrors the workings of the universe. The Virtruvian man reflects this symmetry and in modern times has come to represent health, medicine and the divine proportions of the human body. “Blue Man” is the perfect canvas for the Inner Constellation ideal.
